Candy Chang is an American artist of Taiwanese descent whose work intersects the civic and the sacred. Through installations, video, and paintings generated from thousands of handwritten confessions from the public, her work examines language, embodiment, and ritual to reveal new possibilities for communion today. Before I Die is a global participatory public art project that reimagines how the walls of our cities can help us grapple with mortality and meaning as a community.
