Hercules
Hercules (/ ˈ h ɜːr k j ʊ ˌ l iː z /, US: /-k j ə-/) [2] is the Roman equivalent of the Greek divine hero Heracles, son of Jupiter and the mortal Alcmena. In classical mythology, Hercules is famous for his strength and for his numerous far-ranging adventures. Hercules was a hero of Greek and Roman mythology. He succeeds at completing 12 labors of incredible difficulty, securing his eternal immortality with the gods. Heracles, one of the most famous Greco-Roman legendary heroes. Traditionally, Heracles was the son of Zeus and Alcmene (see Amphitryon), granddaughter of Perseus. Heracles (/ ˈhɛrəkliːz / HERR-ə-kleez; Ancient Greek: Ἡρακλῆς, lit. 'glory/fame of Hera '), born Alcaeus[2] (Ἀλκαῖος, Alkaios) or Alcides[3] (Ἀλκείδης, Alkeidēs), was a divine hero in Greek mythology, the son of Zeus [4] and Alcmene, and the foster son of Amphitryon. [5] . Hercules (Herakles) was a hero of Greek mythology famous for his great strength and endurance. Celebrated as an extraordinary mortal, his success in seemingly impossible labours won him an immortal place amongst the gods.
A half-god of superhuman strength and violent passions, Heracles was the epitome of bravery and masculinity in the ancient world and the most notable champion of the Olympian order, which he staunchly protected from various chthonic monsters and earthly villains.
